FAQs

Where can you record?

I have a professional home set up, so your audio can be recorded remotely. I have bases in London, Aberdeen and access to accommodation in Edinburgh & Glasgow. I am more than happy to travel to you in other areas too! If you need a sample of my home set up, just ask!

Lets talk money?

Every voiceover has an individual rate, due to length, amount of words and usage. The best way to check how much it will cost is by emailing me . You can also have a look at this online rate calculator. My payment terms are 30 days after the invoice has been sent.

Can my client meet with you to give you direction?

Absolutely. I will likely suggest that we have a quick call in the beginning so that I can understand your project. After I have given a quote and received the script, I’ll send a simple contract over. Usually clients then Skype/Zoom call before I record to check that I’m sounding exactly how they want, but they can also be present during recording, if that’s what they prefer. This is at no extra cost.

I’m new to this - what information do you need from me?

First of all, don’t panic! I’m here to keep you right and keep the price as low as possible. When emailing me with your requirements, feel free to consider the following:

  1. Voiceover type (Audiobook/Game/Advert/Corporate Video/E-learning etc)

  2. Recording location (If you’d like me to use my home studio, or travel to another professional studio)

  3. The audio usage (where is it going to be played and how many people will listen to it)

  4. Rough word count, if possible!

  5. Your deadline and budget.

Technical Stuff:

I use a Rhode NT1-A Mic, with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. I edit using Garageband or Audacity. I can add music and some simple sound effects, if required. For anything out of my skill set, I can give the audio to a professional sound engineer for as little as £25 extra.

Other information:

  • I aim for my turnaround time to be 2 working days from the moment I receive the script.

  • I mostly work in my own neutral Scottish accent, but if you’re after something else, just let me know!

  • I have experience recording in English RP, Central Scottish and General American.

  • I grew up in Aberdeen, so if you’re after something in Doric - I can do my best! (Dinna fash yersel, just email me tae ken mair!)
